Every hour, two children in this country are physically, sexually or emotionally abused. It has to stop. We have to make a concerted effort to protect children from abuse. That’s why the Government has begun consultation on improving outcomes for vulnerable children.

  • Every year an average of 10 children die at the hands of the people closest to them.
  • Between 2008 and 2009, 1,286 children were admitted to hospital because of assault, neglect or maltreatment.
  • Over 30,000 students are truant from schools on any given day, and 7,342 school leavers left with no qualification in 2009.

The Green Paper on vulnerable children  aims to open up discussions about these issues and many more and it is a chance for you to have your say.  Help us to help kids by giving us your ideas at www.childrensactionplan.govt.nz
