Another year has come and gone, and with it being my last column before Christmas, I’d like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

2011 hasn’t been easy, and as a region and a country we have had to endure more than our fair share of trials.  The Canterbury earthquakes have had a major impact on the whole country, and while work is beginning to pick up rebuilding that region, we can only hope that 2012 brings some relief for our neighbours up the road.

In Southland, our primary industries still continue to insulate us better than most from the global downturn.

Here’s hoping 2012 finds you all well, refreshed and ready to tackle another year in the best part of the world.
