Despite the failed attempts of a few career protestors making most of the headlines at Waitangi, the real news story was delivered by the Prime Minister on Monday.

John Key talked about how Maori were lagging behind Pakeha in health and education. “We need to be making the waka go faster,” he said.  The Government is making more inroads into Maori health and education issues than Labour ever did in nine years in power.

Despite the best efforts of misguided protestors and unionists to hijack the national day, the Government is committed to working through Treaty issues and other significant policies with the input of Maori.

We all need to work together to make New Zealand the best we can be as a trading nation and as a great place to live and work.
