National has had one year as Government. Despite having some major ‘big picture’ items to deal with, our first year report card also shows that we hit the ground running in meeting our election promises. The global recession and having to rework climate change policies have been a major focus.

But at the same time we have worked hard to refocus government spending to get more accountability and benefits from every tax dollar.

There has been $7.5 billion committed to infrastructure development. Frontline services in health and education have received a boost, and there are more police being trained for local communities.

The goals for the next two years are to lift wages through a stronger economy and unlock New Zealand’s potential for growth. We also have to improve our health services and educational outcomes.

One year in, we’re on the way to securing a better and brighter future for all New Zealanders.
